NDT Managing Director
Phil began his NDT career as a trainee Radiographer in 1983, progressing through a number of roles within the NRL Group prior to being appointed Managing Director in 2011.
His time-served experience working within the civil nuclear sector ensures the commercial and operational side of the business is always underlined by safety. Phil continues to develop our NDT services by identifying efficiency improvements, service innovations, return on investment and new opportunities to better support our clients.
NDT Operations Director
Stephen was NRL’s very first employee, commencing with the Group in 1983 as a Trainee Radiographer. As the NDT business grew, he progressed through several management positions to his current role as Operations Director.
PCN Radiography, Radiation Protection Supervisor and IOSH Managing Safely certified, Stephen oversees the Radiography operations and ensures our Ionising Radiation Regulations (IRR) are upheld. Over the years he’s been involved in a number of major projects, including NDT inspection of the channel tunnel, and THORP and EVAP-D projects on Sellafield.
UT Operations Director
Tim’s NDT expertise spans over 30 years, having held key roles with Doosan Babcock and Rolls-Royce Civil Nuclear as well as managing his own Ultrasonic Inspection business for 10 years. Joining NRL in February 2020 to establish a new Ultrasonic Qualification and Inspection division in Portishead, Bristol, Tim continues to evolve our service offering on Nuclear New Build Projects.
Qualifications held include: Member of British Institute of Non-Destructive Testing (BiNDT); PCN Ultrasonics (Welds) Level 3; PCN Phased Array Levels 2 & 3; PCN TOFD Levels 2 & 3; PCN Ultrasonics (3.1, 3.2, 3.8) Level 2; PCN Eddy Current Inspection (svx) Level 2; PCN Radiographic Integration (dense/light) Level 2; PCN Magnetic Particle Inspection Level 2; PCN Magnetic Particle Inspection Level 2; PCN Liquid Particle Inspection Level 2; ASNT Level II Material Hardness Inspection and Remote Visual Inspection; and ESKOM approved Phased Array/UT/MPI.
Neil has over a decade of experience working on and managing nuclear NDT projects, commencing with NRL as a Production Supervisor ahead of being appointed as our Project Manager to oversee Radiography services. Neil oversees the deployment of SQEP operatives onto multiple projects, operational performance and is conversant with national and industry standards for radiography, including, BS EN 1435 (superseded) BS EN 17636 Parts 1 & 2, ES 0 5260 2 issue 3.
Qualifications held include: PCN Radiography Levels 2 & 3; PCN Radiation Safety Level 2; PCN Dye Penetration Inspection Level 2; PCN Magnetic Particle Inspection Level 2; PCN Visual Inspection Level 2; Radiation Protection Supervisor; IOSH Managing Safely; and CCNSG Safety Passport.
Joining in the business in 2013 as a Technical Clerk, Rorie quickly progressed to his current role as Assistant Manager. He is the main client point of contact for all Radiography bookings in our Egremont branch, developing and maintaining the Radiography database and supporting the Operations Director and Project Manager with the precise coordination and administration of critical testing programmes.
Rorie holds various IT systems and telecom Diplomas, as well as PCN Level 2 Magnetic Particle Inspection, Dye Penetrant Inspection and Radiography.
Group HSE and Q Manager
Pat leads the health and safety of our operations, working with our clients, senior management and external stakeholders to ensure we always remain compliant. He has extensive experience working within the industry, and regularly liaises with the Health and Safety Executive and Environment Agency to conform with all nuclear safety regulations. IOSH and NEBOSH qualified, he also holds a range of training and auditing certifications.
Pat works in our parent company the NRL Group, which ensures our operations also adhere to the wider Group safety and compliance responsibilities expected of us.
