Channel Tunnel NRL
NDT contributed to the huge success, and ongoing safety, of this iconic engineering endeavour. We provided radiographic, ultrasonic and dye penetrant testing to the service pipework that provides safety systems for the Channel Tunnel. Working from a narrow railway, around 25 NRL NDT workers completed the project for contractor Laings.
Thorpe Reprocessing Plant
A very challenging project, involving mainly radiographic testing to small bore, high integrity pipework. The NRL NDT workforce comprised around 20 people, working for Amec, Laings, Doosan Babcock and Interserve (formerly UK Construction).
Devonport Dockyard
An ongoing project, providing personnel to carry out inspection and survey checks to new pipework as well as regular maintenance, to the MoD’s fleet of nuclear submarines and ships. NRL NDT radiographers have been working on this Plymouth-based long-term contract for 15 years, with their numbers fluctuating between 4 and 10.
